Axis of Conversation

Friday, November 7th, 2008

There exists three tumbling hours south of edmonton a bustling cosmopolitan we often deign to mention… the prospering metropolis of CALGARY. therein lies a place where Chris della Torre closes his eyes upon lying down to sleep and watches flicker lights that dance like ballerina fire. When morning descends and grabs him by the quick scruff of his youngling neck, he is gently dragged from out of bed and into a place where music is made foreverized. he leans into the kind memory of those lights of yesternight and allows his whole being to render them into solitary sounds. from out this ethereal amalgamation comes AXIS OF CONVERSATION. i strongly recommend their music to people who enjoy music that swims.

The DANCE FLOOR

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

If you have heard Andy Shauf you obviously know where the bee keeper lives because this fellow is all the buzz in unheard folksterism. What most people do not know is that Andy Shauf and his good friend Dallas Bryson had got together a year and a half ago to put out a little side project that would effectively throw a couple satirical bones to r&b. they called this child DANCE FLOOR and let it drift into it’s well substantiated obscurity. Let’s not stop there. These four jams, aptly addressing the core topics of any amount of r&b humdrum, boast the titles Don’t Tease Me, I’m Sick of It, You’re My Girl, and She’ll Find Someone New. With lyrics like “you know i wanna kiss those lips tonight, I want you by my side. You’ve been dancing in my mind, girl, all the time, i want to see you tonight. Yeah, you’re gonna shake those hips tonight, maybe i’ll stop on by. stop on by.”

so baby girl, can we dance the night away? you’re my girl!

DOT CALM

what it do, kiddies? it’s your posthumous tax break, the jiggy joeyo, rap romeo, the cruelest “don’t skate in the rec area” youth worker since the fresh prince of belair was the fresh prince of phillie. i’ve been up in the jam for a quick minute now and it has been given to me to put you up on the freshest music out. The answer is simple, DOT CALM. this kid is cali life living in brooklyn, directing movies and producing basement bedroom rap tracks in his slim shavings of available time, DEFINING alternative rap with such kind precision that i weep in joy, turn green, and fall apart shaking in envy. GREEN. gr-gr-gr-GREEN. this kid knows how to rhyme’em. if you have the time to recognize the ill, come get infected. DOT CALM DOT CALM DOT CALM DOT CALM DOT CALM DOT CALM.
