Kids in Action wants to be able to invest in the lives of the children of our communities, as well as the communities as a whole, as much as we can. We have realized that their is much more that we can be doing in our communities, and their are many more opportunities to invest in the children’s lives of these communities.

With the support of our schools we have entered into more of a school support role. The schools let us know where we would be best suited to support, and then we try our best to meet that need. What we have found most often is that we are able to participate in classroom help, and mentoring.

During classroom help, a Kia staff is assigned to the classroom that the school deems most necessarily needs support, and they help the teacher in what ever way they decide. The help ranges from: reading with kids, helping with math, helping to carry out a lesson, etc. Always, at the core of our involvement is being able to interact with the children, and support them in some way.

During mentorship time, a Kia staff is paired up with a student who would benefit from having a mentor. This time is used for positive interactions such as: games, sports, reading, talking etc. The relationships that are formed are very valuable to the children, and give them the attention that they may be craving but not receiving in other walks of life. In Leer Ridge school we run this program in unison with Big Brothers and Sisters.

We are always open to new possibilities in our schools, or new schools.
