
HOPE MISSION’S MANDATE & SERVICES
Hope Mission’s original purpose after 79 years, remains the same : To serve, strengthen and uplift needy men, women, youth and children through the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Hope Mission is and always has been an interdenominational organization that reaches out and serves all people regardless of faith, tradition and background.
Hope Mission currently operates the following:
- a men’s emergency shelter (Herb Jamieson Centre)
- a residence for at-risk women with or without children (Women’s Centre),
- youth outreach centre (R.W. Tegler Youth Sports Centre),
- an activity and hot meal program to low income area elementary schools (Kids In Action)
- Ministry van to reach out and care for street people in crisis and take them to our shelter and other appropriate facilities
- Continuum Care Facility provides for intox/detox centre, emergency care accommodation, transitional housing with treatment & support programs and long term supportive living
- Hope Mission Donation Centre & Bargain Shoppe
- a shelter and transitional housing for homeless & at-risk youth (Youth Shelter)
- camps for underprivileged children (Brightwood Ranch).
- and recently we opened a Women’s Emergency Shelter
Beyond our above-mentioned programs, Hope Mission continues to host special events aimed at caring for Edmonton’s inner city community that includes Annual Street BBQ’s, Thanksgiving Dinners, Christmas Banquets, Easter Dinners and our evening Chapel Services.
In 2006 Hope Mission;
- Served over 336,000 meals to the hungry.
- Provided over 4,553 people with a warm, safe place to sleep .
- Distributed over 50 tons of clothing.
- Sent over 500 children and young people to Brightwood Ranch Camp.
- Provided 3.487 young people an exciting array of activities at the Tegler
- Youth Sports Centre.
- Served over 7,200 meals to elementary students in high needs areas of our city, through our Kids In Action program.
- Provided addictions treatment to over 270 men with our “Break Out” program
