Tegler + Galaxyland = FUN!!! It was an eventful evening filled with rollercoasters, screaming children, and candied apples. It just doesn’t get much better than that folks. One particular highlight of the evening consisted of a busload of kids breaking out into their own rendition of various TYC anthems, and then a rap Cypher broke out in the back of the bus. I think our bus driver thought we were nuts, perhaps he was right. Nevertheless, we know how to have a good time. Scope some pics from the trip. Most Photogenic Award goes to Gatluak, hands down.

I was just the happiest kid when i when i stumbled across Bon Iver’s new ep “Blood Bank” released on itunes this week. The title track is deeply stirring as he tells the story of meeting a girl. He has made quite the impact in last year with his first album “For Emma: Forever Ago” released 2/19/08. In my personal opinion it is the best album released all year. The lonesome and almost eerie vocals portray both the place and the mindset in which this album was recorded as well as perfectly complimenting the overt, yet strangely entangled lyrics. Bon Iver or Bon Hiver (spelled wrong on purpose in order to encourage correct pronunciation) is actually french for “good winter”.

After the breakup of his longtime band, Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) moved to a remote cabin in Northwestern Wisconsin in hopes of a break from life as he knew it and in need of a quiet place to hibernate for some time while things work themselves out. This in itself is very poetic, and helps one understand just what Bon Iver is trying to say with his music.

Check it out! This guy might have just changed my life….

This august a few of us from the Tegler (Nick, Brandon S. and me) took a trip down to Medicine Hat, AB. It was a friggin long drive, including one lost wallet, broken car lighter, and we saw a drug bust going down on the side of the road on our way there. How did we make it? Red Bull. Lots and lots of Red Bull. The drive proved to be well worth it as all three of us made some good memories, and the boys got in some good skateboarding. Oh and lots of red bull, lots and lots of red bull.

Heyo! Take a listen to EISLEY, Our latest music feature.

They are a super hype band, made up of four siblings and a family freind. They’ve been writing and playing music the majority of their surprisingly young lives. Listening to their music and considering their rather accomplished career it’s hard to believe that their oldest member is only 22! Its cool seeing young people doing big things. Their lyrics are super relevant to any young person, as they write all their own stuff honestly depicting the ins and outs of their lives. They have gained the recognition of many big names outside their native Texas including bands like Mutemath and Coldplay (who Eisley opened for on their 2003 tour). Blender magazine crowned them “The Next Big Thing” while Entertainment Weekly dubbed them “Band On The Brink.” Needless to say, Eisley’s music is causing alot of buzz and gaining well deserved recognition in the music scene.

Keep a look out for their new album which is in the works or you can pick up one of their 4 cd’s that are already out—-> Eisley Discography

hey internet world.

did you ever notice how hard it is to find good music these days. bands sound like one another, music has become more about popularity and less about expression. but the mark of truly great music in my opinion is innovation. getting a hold of unique music is deeply gratifying. its like listening to art. i’ve been listening to a band called Moving Mountains recently, and they are the epitome of innovative fresh music. here’s an excerpt from they’re myspace page.

“Pneuma is a collision of emo-rock glory, math-y dynamics, waves of complex melody and epic atmospherics…and it’s nothing short of stunning. As the title suggests (Greek for “breathe”), Moving Mountains has created an album that lives and breathes with each graceful crescendo and every shimmering arpeggio. The complex, multi-layered arrangements are complimented by vague literary references, whose powerful themes enable the music to resonate emotionally without being overly particular. Tossing aside the constrictions that most bands place on their art, Pneuma looks toward the future and transcends boundaries while paying homage to past and contemporary luminaries.”

They are a breath of fresh air. take a listen.
